The Return of the Caped Crusaders is a 2016 straight to DVD release featuring the voices of Adam West, Burt Ward, and Julie Newmar in their iconic roles as Batman, Robin, and Catwoman.  In the movie, Gotham City is once again plagued by the "core four" of villains from Batman's Rogues Gallery in a story that takes place on the streets of and in the air over Gotham City, plus into outer space!  The movie had a world premiere at New York Comic Con and then was featured in a one-day theatrical release.  John went with his family to experience it and is joined by Dan Greenfield of 13th Dimension in this "Quick Thoughts" podcast offering their non-spoiler review.

The movie is now available in digital format through most online platforms such as Amazon and iTunes.  It will be released in a DVD-Blu-Ray Combo pack on November 1.    Take a listen to our thoughts on the movie and let us know what you think.  A more detailed analysis with a cast of our own rogues will be released on November 1.

Just in time for the premiere of The Return of the Caped Crusaders, we're fortunate to bring you audio of a Roundtable discussion featuring Adam West at this past weekend's New York Comic Con.  Dan Greenfield of 13th Dimension was able to be among those in the Roundtable and he shares the audio with us.  Adam is very thoughtful in this candid talk with the media about his role on Batman and the portrayal of the character in recent movies.  Plus, as we try to do here with any interview we conduct on the podcast, Dan asks a question of Adam that he admits no one has ever asked him before.  Take a listen to find out what it is and Adam's response.

"THE FROG IS A DEADLY WEAPON"

AIRED: SEPTEMBER 30, 2016

Mysterious deaths by the water, Casey on the case, and a brief look at Britt Reid's past!  This one appears to have it all despite the odd title and John and Jim are in agreement (for the first time) on the merits of the episode, but is it enough to earn the coveted "Must See" rating?  Let us know what you think of the episode by writing us here or at thebatcavepodcast@gmail.com.

"CRIME WAVE"

AIRED: SEPTEMBER 30, 2016

The Hornet investigates a series of crimes that were predicted by a super computer.  Are they connected?

This is another of the high concept episodes that Jim likes to see on The Green Hornet, but even he admits this one has its faults.  How close are the two to agreeing on this one?   Let us know what you think of the episode by writing us here or at thebatcavepodcast@gmail.com.

"Penguin's Clean Sweep"

Aired January 25, 1968

It's the final appearance of Burgess Meredith as The Penguin and he doesn't exactly go out in a blaze of glory.  The story involved Penguin trying to collect all of Gotham City's money that he has convinced the public is tainted with Lygerian Sleeping Sickness.  Despite the hokey sounding plot, John still feels there are some things of merit in this one and talks about it with Batman at 45 author Chris Gould.

"Programmed for Death"

Aired: September 23, 2016

A group of underworld leaders are planning something big and it's up to the Hornet and Kato to stop it.  The two are drawn into the group's scheme when a Sentinel reporter is killed by a leopard in the Sentinel newsroom.

John and Jim are at odds with how good this episode is.  Jim feels it shows the program's true potential by showing off such high concepts, but John is not as impressed.  Let us know what you think of the episode by writing us here or at thebatcavepodcast@gmail.com.

John is joined by Dan Greenfield of 13th Dimension to celebrate the birthday of Adam West.  In our tribute, we discuss Adam's style of acting when it came to pre and post-Batman series.  We look some of his best moments on Batman and also discuss other roles outside the series.  John enthuses on Lookwell, a pilot Adam starred that should have gone to series.  Finally, they discuss his resurrection today as a pop-culture icon and how that has paved the way for the interest in the Batman series on its 50th anniversary.

"GIVE EM ENOUGH ROPE"

AIRED: SEPTEMBER 16, 2016

An insurance racket has been operating in the city.  The Hornet looks into the operation when an informant of Mike Axford's is killed as he's about to speak with Axford.  Not only does the Hornet have a lot to deal with in this episode, but so does Britt as he must deal with the lawyer of the man Axford accuses in the pages of the Sentinel of running the insurance ring.

John and Jim have a lot to discuss what with the lame method of roping and killing the intended victims of the racketeers, the ethics of Britt having lunch with the lawyer of the alleged racketeer, and the fact that Miss Case has not been used to her full potential yet.  Let us know what you think of the episode by writing us here or at thebatcavepodcast@gmail.com.
